Thanks to support from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester, Stockport Lads Club were able to make a visit to Ormside Mill Residential Centre and enjoy a fantastic weekend of outdoor activities, fun and team building.

On Friday 16th June, a group of 10 lads from the club were picked to make the journey north.

The usual first night excitement ensured that not many people got a lot of sleep on the first night and Saturday arrived with many sleepy heads struggling to get off the pillow.

The lads had full day of activities, which ensured they didn’t stay up late on the Saturday night – by the end of the day they were too exhausted to keep anybody awake.

On Saturday they enjoyed a Ghyll Scramble and the newly installed High Ropes activity with the Leap of Faith!!

On the Sunday morning, before heading back to Stockport, they were able to have a go at Archery.

But the weekend wasn’t just about the high adrenaline activities. Lads were all expected to join in the “chores,” including washing pots, keeping rooms tidy and tidying the Mill before leaving.

Fortunately, it was a good weekend of weather, so the lads had an absolutely wonderful time that they will never forget. Everybody involved commented what a great place Ormside is and what great instruction was available.
