BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS TABLE TENNIS PROJECT GETS STARTED
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester Table Tennis project got started on Saturday 9th March.
The Greater Sport funded project began with some volunteer training at Stockport Lads Club where eight volunteers and youth workers attended a training delivered by Table Tennis England’s coach education team.
Volunteers and leaders completed a 4-hour course, accredited by Table Tennis England that introduced them to the basics of Table Tennis and how to pass skills on to the young people they will be working with.
The funding will allow local youth clubs to engage more young people in the sport and also access our Greater Manchester Table Tennis tournaments in May and the NABGC National Tournament which are played in July.
Separate funding has also been provided by the Greater Manchester High Sheriff’s Police Trust Fund to purchase Table Tennis equipment for clubs that need it in order to help young people take part in Table Tennis at their clubs.
The funding from Greater Sport will now pay for qualified Table Tennis England coaches to go into clubs and deliver sessions, before the newly trained volunteers take over.
