The Greater Manchester Trust for Recreation operating as Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester (“BGCGM”) is a registered charity in England and Wales number 521234. We are a charitable trust.
Our mission statement is:
“Our aim is to deliver a year-round programme of recreational and educational opportunities to young people, volunteers and leaders within our affiliated clubs that encourages them to reach their full potential.”
BGCGM works with children and young adults as part of its activities.
The purpose and scope of this policy statement
This policy should be read alongside BGCGM’s policies and procedures on child protection and safeguarding. The purpose of this policy statement is to:
- ensurethe safety and wellbeing of children and young people is paramount when adults, young people or children are using the internet, social media or mobile devices
- provide staff and volunteers with the overarching principles that guide our approach to online safety
- ensure that, as an organisation, we operate in line with our values and within the law in terms of how we use online devices.
The policy statement applies to all staff, volunteers, children and young people and anyone involved in BGCGM’s activities.
This policy has been drawn up on the basis of legislation, policy and guidance that seeks to protect children in England. A summary of the key legislation and guidance on online abuse, bullying and child protection is available from www.nspcc.org.uk.
